While using a mobile phone as a webcam via DroidCam app, when you use desktop DroidCam client it shows the video. However, when you try accessing it via Visual Studio with OpenCV library (videocapture) or Matlab (webcam) it shows orange screen all the time. The solution is disabling the laptop camera from device manager and restarting. Then it works fine. I was interested why is that so, and would recommend Microsoft to fix it.

Hi there,

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

When the inbuilt camera is installed and working, the system and the applications in the system are by default programmed to recognize this camera. This can be overridden only if that option is available in the particular program you are using. If not, the only option would be to proceed with disabling the camera from the ‘Device manager’, this will force the application to take the other available options, in this case the mobile camera.

Hope it helps.
