Android device connecting problem

My new Asus Zenfone Max Pro cannot be detected by Windows 10. Only charges when connected to laptop. Windows shows an error of USB malfunction code 43. tried updating drivers online yet no help. I've taken all measures available in windows community to solve this problem. Don't know this is windows problem or my device's.

    and is the USB cord connection a 2.0 or 3.0 and higher

    then is your PC/Laptop ports 2.0 or 3.0 and higher.

    not all devices will detect or connect with mismatch connections. as they should be compatible, they are not always.

    did you try a different USB port.

    what are the ports on your PC /Laptop

    What exact model number is it.

    example

    max pro M1

    zenfone max 4

    and you updated the phone firmware and installed the USB driver

    restarted PC and then plugged it in or connected wifi
