2019-01-31T19:37:03+00:00 Hi Himanshu,
I can see Malwarebytes running from the taskbar. Is it Free or Premium (or trial) version? Premium version acts like a full antivirus software and will replace Windows Defender which might explain the issues you are facing.
What you can do now is:
- Remove any remnants of McAfee if present by runningĀ McAfee Consumer Product Removal tool (MCPR) and restart your system.
- You can keep Malwarebytes Free if you want, but not Premium one which has Real Time Protection. If you wish to remove it, you can follow this link:
https://support.malwarebytes.com/docs/DOC-2674
- Run Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix any potential problems with Windows Update.
- Run SFC and DISM scans to fix potential Windows problems:
Restart your system after these steps and revert back with the results.

It may be that your computer has been infected by a virus. Start the system in safe mode.
- Restart the computer while holding the Shift key on the keyboard
- Choose the following options: Troubleshooting, Advanced options, Startup settings, Restart
- Once the computer has restarted, press the 4 key on the keyboard (Enable safe mode).
- Log in to your administrative account-
I suggest you use Windows Defender Offline and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
- Press the Windows + I keys. Settings will open
- Click on Update and security
- Click on Windows Defender. In the right pane look for Windows Defender Offline and click on Take the exam offline. The computer will reboot and begin the scan for threats (viruses, Trojans, etc ...). When the exam is finished the team will restart again.
You can also use: malwarebytes.com (free)
Let us know if these steps help you to resolve the issue.

2019-01-31T15:20:36+00:00 Hello,
I'm Independent Advisor and Microsoft MVP, here to help you with your question.
Try these suggestions:
Run services.msc to open Services Manager. Ensure that the Windows Defender service is started and set to Automatic.
You may need to re-register the following dll files and see if it helps you. Run each command in an elevated command prompt one after the other and hit Enter:
regsvr32 wuaueng.dll
regsvr32 wucltui.dll
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 wups.dll
regsvr32 wuweb.dll
regsvr32 atl.dll
regsvr32 mssip32.dll
Also run regedit command and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender
Here ensure that the value of these DWORDS is 0 : DisableAntiSpyware and DisableAntiVirus.
Let us know if this helps!
