Cannot switch users

Hi There:

So on a 10 month old HP laptop, with Win 10 Home ver 1803 (build 17134.407) in the last couple of weeks a problem has presented itself where we cannot switch users.

There are three user accounts - Mine, Wife, and Admin.  All accounts are valid and passwords work

Wife walks away and the screen locks up.  Before I go and used to be able to just switch user from the lock screen over to one of the other two accounts.  Now the other users to switch to do not display on the lock screen.  From the lock screen I can kick off a laptop reboot, which will not resolve the issue, as it brings me back to the same login screen without the ability to switch users.

The only solution seems to be to bring wife to the laptop and have her login and then signout.  At this point the login screen comes up WITH all of the accounts showing to switch to.

Obviously this doesn't work well when wife is sleeping or not at home.

Advice would be appreciated.

So I ended up doing a support session with Microsoft.  They said your solution actually terminated my wifes account from the system.  Not a very good fix.

They ended up having me reinstalling windows.  My wife's account is lost, thanks to you but we were able to recover her files.

so I actually swapped the variable over to the location of my windows INF folder, and this has made the situation worse.

    I rebooted the computer.

If I sign out of my account my Wife's account and the admin account do not show as an option to log in.

I took a look at your site and on trying option #2 its not finding the path mentioned

    Invalid path - C:\WINDOWS\system32%windir%\inf
