Microsoft Compression Error

Hello!

So after an update some time ago, when all files on my PC have been compressed automatically, i have found a problem with a folder full of photos.

There are over 1.000 photos and videos of a trip in this specific folder, but now i'm not able to open them anymore.

Windows tells me that the folder has the size of 2,47TB which is not possible because my harddisc has the capacaty of only ~200GB.

When i check the properties of a single file in that specific folder windows tells me that for example one photo has the size of 2,33GB but 4,00KB of size on the harddisc. i tried every programm but i just cannot open these files. when i try to decompress a photo it really becomes over 2GB and i still cannot open it.

It was a really important trip, how can i save those files?

Thank you for your help!

<oh thank you for the fast reply!

hmm doesn't sound to good for me i guess :(. Like you said, that would be very expensive so i think I'll leave it like that for now.

If it's the fault of the disk, could it be possible that be that there will be more of these errors in the future? i think it's a few years old now. So i better replace it before that happens again.. :/

    thank you for your help!

    Hi, kanjuurou,

seems there are errors on disk. If you hardly need these files it is better to bring a disk to a data recovery workshop but this will be not cheap.

You may try to recover files yourself but there are no warranty and possibly this may kill chances to recover by a specialist.

You may use any third-party imaging tool to create a sector-by-sector copy of the disk on another drive and than to experiment with this copy.

Or, as I suggest above, bring a disk to data recovery workshop not to just a computer workshop.

May be you may find a remote help on data recovery forums.
