Cannot install Python

I'm trying to install Python 2.7.15.

I've downloaded the Windows x86 MSI installer, but when I try to open it so I can install Python, I get a message saying "You'll need a new app to open this .msi file". Every tutorial I've found has said that the Python installer should open with the windows installer automatically when you double click. I'm sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

Hi 18S99H ... is your system 32 or 64 bit?

To find out go to search and type system information.

    What is the system type?

yes it can damage your game.

But the installer sees Python so i think that is why it can't install.

    Try installing in safe mode.

I downloaded revo uninstaller, but when I used the search bar it could not find python. I apologise - I am very unfamiliar with this program. Is there something else I need to do using revo uninstaller?

Also, when I searched for python on "My PC" I found some files, but they were from a game I have installed (the Sims). Would fully removing python from my PC damage my game?

You won't be able to get 32 bit on at all.

    64 bit requires 64bit apps.

I would recommend running revo uninstaller or something similar like that to get python fully off your PC.

Then try install again with 64bit only.

Right click the install and select run as administrator to install.

Thanks for responding! My system is 64 bit. I've tried both the x86-64 and the x86 installers, and the same problem happens for both.
