Mouse settings

I have just bought a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. It works great but I can't find a setting so that I can feel the notches when I scroll. My old mouse went 3 notches at a time but this one is smooth without notches. I have set the mouse to "roll the wheel one notch to scroll" 3 lines at a time but I still can't feel the notches. Instead it just scrolls heaps of lines and so I don't have the control I used to have with my old mouse. How do I get it to move using notches and not smoothly?

While most mice have 'notches' (ratcheting) scroll wheels, some mice have 'free wheeling' scroll wheels, which can be great

when you do a lot of scrolling on large pages, but fussy when trying to be more selective.

I can't find details on this mouse's scroll wheel, but [EDIT: Bold added ]- if you can't feel a notch no software is going

**to make it happen.**The stepped/notchy feel is built into the mouse wheel. Windows mouse options have nothing to do with the feel .

The option in Windows mouse to scroll x number of lines is only useful with ratcheting mice.

A few mice have both options, which can toggled between by using a button on the top or bottom of the mouse. I believe this option

is more common on 'gaming' mice, and is my preferred option as I like the freewheel when on the internet, but need ratcheting

    when gaming.

Thanks for that information. I recommend you go to the drivers download page and download the latest driver software:

Hi MG. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 9 year Windows MVP and Independent Advisor, here to help you.

If you've installed any drivers from the maker's Support Downloads web page, and adjusted all Settings in Settings > Devices > Mouse and also in all tabs on the Additional Mouse Options at the right on that page, then it may be the way the mouse is intended and you might want to consider taking it back.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

What is the make and model of the mouse and keyboard? You might need to download additional configuration software from the manufacturers website.
