I have a number of servers I would need to manage via Endpoint Configuration manager (SCCM). I establish that for the clients we need EMS or Intune licenses.

Why am i not able to fine any details on the licenses needed to manage severs on the platform?

You need to talk to your licencing expert. They will be able to guide you with all of your options. I would trust none of the answer you get in the Q&A forum.

Here is an answer to your question that hopefully you find helpful!
Agree with what GarthJones said, the best answer to the question is "contact your Microsoft licensing specialist".
In addition, there is an article on how to find the detailed information of the licenses in the official documents for reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/configmgr/core/understand/learn-more-editions#licensing-resources
