Hi CRAIGHUGHES , this is not a good sign . ..

You can try rolling back to the previous version of Windows 10, but honestly your best and probably only option is to reset Windows 10, while keeping your files and apps . . .

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt . . . etc.

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Revert to previous build of Windows

If the above fails, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Reset this PC

Choose to keep your files and apps,

    Then start the Reset

    Hi,

Try the steps below, if it works out for you.

 Check if you are able to run explorer.exe:

    1. Hold down the ‘ctrl-alt-delete’ to open the task manager.
    2. On the menu bar, click ‘File’ option, select ‘Run new task’.
    3. You can see a small dialogue box ‘Create new task’.
    4. In the text field, enter the task name, ‘explorer.exe’ and press enter.

    This should start the desktop.

 Start PC in safe mode (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/...), follow the section ‘From the sign-in screen’ and check if this loads your Desktop.

     Fix startup option.

    1. Access the recovery environment, for this turn your computer on and off three times. While booting, make sure you turn off the computer when you see the Windows logo. After the third time, Windows 10 will boot into diagnostics mode.
    2. Click Advanced options when the recovery screen appears.
    3. Click Troubleshoot.
    4. Click Advanced options.
    5. Then, click Startup Repair.

If this doesn’t work use different recovery options as well.

    The article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/...

    Hope it helps.
