Can't open any of my documents- SXC, XLS, DOC, SXW. JPG and PDF will open

Not sure if this occurred after update to Windows 10 or when I replaced my computer.  I really need to be able to open and modify some of my documents.  This keeps asking me if I want to save or download, and eventually what I want to open with and then takes me back to save or download.  And I don't know when the SXW and SXC file types appeared. I thought I always saved to DOC or XLS.  I saw a lot of sites that want you to download their "fixes" but I don't which are safe.

Before I saw your answer, I downloaded Apache Open Office and I am back in business.  I think whatever office program I had is no longer supported and there was no program installed. Thank you for your support.

Hello, thanks to contact the Microsoft Community. My name is Israel Torres, I am an independent advisory.

That sounds like Office is corrupt, or there is a virus on the PC.

Please scan the PC with the antivirus and perform an online repair of Office from the control panel.

Go to: Control Panel \ Office \ Change \ Select Online repair.
