This file called SFClient.exe is being marked as a virus by both Windows Defender and AVG. After deleting the file, it keeps reappearing. Any idea how to solve this?

    Hi Dormant

My name is Sarah Kong and I am an independent adviser that is here to try and help you with your issue.

I would highly recommend resetting your PC.

So do a full back up of your data first.

Then go to start - settings - update and security - recovery

And click Get started under Reset this PC.

Might seem extreme but if the antivirus can't even get rid of the virus then this is best solution to make sure it is gone.

Windows Defender has a built in off-line scanner . See this Microsoft article.

If you can't get rid of the threat then reset is the option.

    Hi,

As a second option, you could try an Antivirus Rescue application, like this one from Trend Micro.  They generally call these 'Rescue disks, but you don't need an optical drive to make them work as you can also make one using a USB flash drive.

These rescue programs run from the Flash storage when you start the machine, bypassing the Windows boot sequence for the duration they are run.  Because Windows isn't running, the viruses can't run, hence there is more chance the Antivirus can remove them.

Note that depending on the size of the drive drive being scanned, the process may take some time.  It's worth a shot.
