Startup without PIN

I have a new laptop and when it was set up it demanded that I enter a PIN to open up the desktop.

I do not need a PIN, and I do not WANT a PIN. I just want to turn on the machine and see my desktop.

I never leave the PC unattended, and even if it was stolen, I do not store any sensitive info on it, everything is on a mem stick I put in my pocket if I ever walk away.

How do I bypass this required PIN at a=startup?

You can do this with Step 1 below. Step 2 and 3 are for waking up from sleep and screen saver.

Step 1. Type netplwiz.cpl in Cortana Search box > Click netplwiz.cpl > Select your user name > Uncheck Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer

    Step 2. Windows Key+i > Accounts > Click sign-in options > Under Require sign-in select Never

Step 3. Windows Key+i > Personalization > Lock screen > Screen saver settings > Uncheck the box to On resume, display logon screen

Hi rfcomm2k_ to boot your PC straight to the Desktop:

    Open the Settings App

Go to Accounts - Sign-in Options

Choose to sign in with a local account

(in newer versions of Windows 10, this might be on the Your Info Settings Page)

Enter your old password and leave the new password box blank

    Close the Settings App

Click your Start Button, type netplwiz and hit Enter

In the resulting dialog, uncheck the option 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer box'

    Click OK

    That's It!
