Hello,

Dear Sir / Madam, I have an external 500GB hard drive and I have errors on it. I checked it with hdd tune and crystal disk Info and it shows me errors. I'll get you a script and maybe tell me what I need to do to fix it.

Wait for response!

Thank you!

A good day!

    1. Backup up all files to another drive
    2. For HD Tune post images of the results on the other tabs:

    a) Benchmark

    b) Health (SMART)

    1. Run Sea Tools long generic:

    http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/seatools-win-master/

    http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en\_US/FAQ/202435en

    1. Run HD Sentinel (free or trial edition)

    https://www.hdsentinel.com/

Post images of the results on overview, temperature, disk performance, and txt file

    1. Run chkdsk /r /v M:

(change the drive letter M: to the drive letter displayed in file explorer for the problematic drive.

This command may take substantial time so plan to run overnight.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /x /r /v C:

The type of the file system is NTFS.

    Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another

process.  Would you like to schedule this volume to be

checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type:  Y

    reboot

    1. Use the text and images in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer > copy and paste > notepad > post a share link into the thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive

    Hi Adrian

CrystalDiskInfo actually indicates your disk is healthy with respect to SMART (this is what matters), you just have errors on your hard drive that need to be repaired, this may be caused by re-installing Windows on that drive . ..

Press the Shift Key and click Restart

Your PC will boot into the Windows Recovery Environment

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Options - Command Prompt

Run this command and hit Enter:

    chkdsk C: /f

Wait for that command to complete, then run this command and hit Enter:

    chkdsk C: /r

That command will take time to complete, when it does, restart your PC . . .

Looking at the error blocks, it looks like the disk is heavily corrupted. See if Chkdsk helps, if not I suppose you need to replace the disk.

You should also run CHKDSK. To run CKHDSK -

Type cmd in Windows Cortana search

Right click on cmd.exe > Run As Administrator

Type following and Enter to fix problems on the C: drive while you're using it, and will use as much system resources as allowed so that it will run as quickly as possible. Say Y if it says that it will start CHKDSK at next restart

    chkdsk c: /r /scan /perf
