error code 1648 fix/repair

I was using Turbo Tax 2018 until Saturday night.  The program informed me of an error code 1648 when their techs tried to uninstall the program.  Is there a known fix from Microsoft?  I see other links for a fix but I don't know if I should trust them.  I don't want to lose the files I have.
