Does SQL Server 2008R2 Security Update 10.50.6560.0 (Meltdown/Spectre) include the TLS1.2 update 10.50.6542.0?

I can see the TLS1.2 update is a lower build number, but I can't find anywhere that states that the higher update includes the lower one(s) - there's 3 others post SP3 too - as it's not listed as a rollup patch.

All updates are cumulative. A higher version number means all previous patches are included. 6560 is greater than 6542.

So to answer your question, YES.

    Hi @Saransvan ,

The GDR releases contain security-only fixes, and you must apply SP3 and then you can apply GDR 10.50.6560.0 (KB4057113). So please don’t worry about it.
Please refer to this article about hotfix release model which might help.
In addition, SQL Server 2008 R2 are no longer supported by Microsoft and no updates are published. It is recommended to upgrade the server to the latest version to preventlose them or allow the data they contain to fall into malicious hands.

    Best Regards,
    Amelia

    Hi Saransvan-0628,

Sorry for not making it clear.
In my humble opinion, you have already installed SP3 for SQL Server 2008 R2 cause the GDR is based on it. So TLS1.2 supports for your server now.
If you still remain suspicious, you can uninstall the GDR (KB4057113) from Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Installed Updates.

    Best Regards,
    Amelia
