Hi All,

We plan to upgrade our existing SP-2013 farm, which is running the Window server 2012 standard version we want to upgrade on Windows Server 2012-R2. it's possible without any issues or what are the expected issues?

we have two servers one is the application and one is the DB server both are running WS2012 standard. our SP farm is customized with WSP, Search, FBA, and with some third-party apps also.
need to get all the details that might occur during and post-upgrade.

kindly suggest the best way to upgrade SharePoint 2013 Server from OS Windows 2012 standard to Windows-S 2012 R2.

Your quick response would be appreciated.

Hi @Mohammad Tahir , thank you for posting in the Q&A forum.

You can refer to the document here (previous Microsoft KB) for how to upgrade a server operating system that has SharePoint Server 2013 or 2010 installed.

Microsoft does not recommend performing an in-place upgrade of Windows Server.

For the SharePoint servers, create new servers with Windows Server 2012 R2, deploy SharePoint, configure it appropriately, rotate it into the farm, and then retire your older SharePoint servers.
For SQL Server, also build a new server, migrate the databases + SQL logins and retire the old SQL Server.
