I have windows dual boot with ubuntu 16.04. When I shut down my laptop yesterday from windows, it started updating. Once it finished, I cannot access windows from the grub menu as it gives "Alloc Magic is broken". When I try to boot in directly into windows, it shuts down immediately.
Not sure what to do, but I can still access the ubuntu 16.04 and update-grub does not work.

Install boot repair by entering these commands in terminal
sudo add-apt-sudo add-apt-repository ppa:yannubuntu/boot-repairsudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get install -y boot-repair && boot-repairOpen the boot repair by entering command boot-repairAnd perform the suggested repairAfter that in grub menu several option for booting Will appear open the one with OEM and windows troubleshooter will appear Here u can either check for currupted files or again install windows
