Hi,

I have a new laptop for my colleague, I set it up for her follow the instruction. It asked me to reset password while set up for Windows login then I followed. The next screen is asking if I have got a Microsoft account, I entered the email and it asked for password update. However, it first says my password doesn't match with organization policy so I tried few times and at the end it says sign-in timed again please try sign in again. I cannot go back or forward, it stuck at the screen even I restart the laptop. There is no restart icon on the screen but I just press the Switch off button on the laptop.

I have tried the password is fine which can be logged into another laptop.

Can I reset the laptop without Microsoft login?

Please help!

    Hi,

I am Ganesh Gandhi, an Independent Advisor, 18 years experienced windows guide. I am here to work with you on this problem.

Microsoft have added the option of resetting a computer to default settings without knowing the current MS account login password.

    Kindly follow these steps.

    • When you get to the Windows logon screen:
    • Press the “Shift” key on your keyboard down, click on the Power icon on the screen and then select Restart
    • After a while of keeping the Shift key pressed, this screen will pop up:
    • Choose the Troubleshoot option and hit Enter. You will get to this next screen:
    • Then choose “Remove Everything” on the following screen:
    • Don’t try doing “Keep my files” option, it will ask you for the account password, which you obviously don’t have.

After you choose that option, the computer will reboot immediately, and then give you two options:

    • Choose whatever option fits you the best, and the computer should start resetting:
    • After a couple of reboots, you will be presented with a fresh install of Windows 10

    Thanks to
