Ive recently had a number of .cpr (cubase project files) dissapear off my pc. Its a new pc, windows 10. Ive opened the files on this pc before but they are just dissapearing. How do i get them back? All my audio files are still here but the project files are vanishing and the .bak files are at super early stages of the project. Please help as these songs were due for release in a week. Thanks in advance

Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Please reply to the following questions to help you further:

  • May I know, what exactly you mean by the files are disappearing?
  • Are you facing this issue after any Windows update?

In the meantime, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Check hidden items

Check if the files are hidden or not. Refer the article Show hidden files.

Method 2: Search for the files

Check the files in recycle bin. Also, you can try searching the files with their extensions.

  1. Open file explorer and press ctrl + F key together.
  2. Now search for the file using the file extension adding the * sign as a prefix, like *.cpr or *.bak

Method 3: Use File History

If you were using File History back up settings, we can restore the missing files using File History. Please refer the section Restore your files from the article Back up and restore your files to restore the files using File History.

Hope it helps.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
