Ive just done a clean installation of windows from the settings/recovery panel as the PC is very slow & although it worked ok it is saying that it cant reach the activation servers to validate windows. I did exactly the same thing last week with wifes win10 PC with no problem. Any suggestions please. I doubt I would have the original disk as I believe this PC was an ex display model

I have found the activation key and entered it but still same response. Can I assume servers are down?

Go to Settings - Update and Security - Activation
Try entering that product key there to activate Windows
Otherwise, have that product key at hand and contact Microsoft Support and ask them to help you re-activate your Windows 10
