Hi Pham. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Guardian Moderator here to help you.

I would manually upgrade to the latest version 1903 by opening the Media Creation Tool from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m..., choose Download Tool Now, then open the tool and choose Upgrade This PC Now. This saves your files, apps and most settings in place, is the most stable method to change versions, brings your Updates current, resolves most problems.

If any problems report back the verbatim error and number, then continue with these steps for overcoming Version Upgrade problems: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

If the Version has problems I will work with you to try to resolve them. If the problems are intractable, you have ten days to roll it back in Recovery settings.

Most problems are resolved by doing this gold standard Clean Install which should get you past all difficulties as it has millions of others who have followed the steps in this link and never come back to report another problem: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki... . So read it over and see if its something you want to learn to do.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi Pham

I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

You should upgrade to 1903 through Media creation tool to have a successful upgrade.. Execute the below steps to go to 1903

    1. Windows Key+X > Windows Powershell (Admin)

Type following (or copy and paste following) one by one and Enter

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

    1. Type following in Windows Start Search box (Cortana) and hit Enter %systemroot%\Logs\CBS > Rename CBS.Log to something else.

If it doesn't allow you to rename - Type services in Windows Start Search box > Click Services > Scroll down to find the Windows Modules Installer service and double-click on it > Set its startup type to Manual > Reboot your computer

Go to C:\Windows\Logs\CBS > Rename CBS.Log > Reboot your computer > Then go back into the Services App and set Windows Modules Installer Service back to Automatic Startup (Note CBS log files contain information about windows update, SFC etc)

    (Source - https://partnersupport.microsoft.com/en-us/par_...)

    1. A. Optional but recommended step - Take a backup of your computer before you proceed.

    B. Disable any third party Antivirus (After update is successful, you can enable it again)

    C. You can go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

You can download the latest Windows 10 package from this link (media creation tool) and follow the instructions there to upgrade. Use the very simple instructions given under Using this tool to upgrade this PC to Windows 10

    D. Before update, remove all USB devices & SD card except mouse.

Do let me know if you have any more question or require further help.

    Hi,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Try updating to 1903 using Media Creation tool and if it fails let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through Media creation tool or ISO file.
Please download Media Creation Tool from the link below and select Upgrade this PC at the first screen.

All steps, including upgrading using ISO file and Media creation tool, are covered here:

I tried the Media Creation Tool and after doing the install step I got the message "Windows 10 Setup" "Windows 10 installation has failed" with a check box for OK. See attached image.

I guess I am going to have to try the second method detailed in your second link.

I think this is a very bad way to do business... Come on Microsoft get your act together.
