    Thanks everybody. I,ve done the steps suggested as much as am able, It looks like the dustbin is the solution for WIndows and Word.

    Hello dgby,

    I am Matt, an Independent Advisor and a specialist technician. I would like to assist you with this and hopefully I can help you to resolve this issue promptly.

    1. Open word so that it is showing on the task bar
    2. Right click the word icon on the task bar and select "Pin to taskbar"

    All done. Now when you close word it will remain pinned to the taskbar.

    You can also find word in the start menu, right click and select more options -> Pin to taskbar but I feel the steps above a little more straight forward.

    Ok try this.

    Press "Windows + R" at the same time to open run dialog.

    Type in WINWORD.EXE and press enter.

    This should open word. Then you can run through the pinning steps above.

    went to start but there doent appearto be any ref to Word like there was earlier today?

    I think you mean Word365?

    Go to: Start > Word

    If you'd like to place an icon to start Word on your taskbar, that's no problem. Again, go to Start > Word and then right-click on the Word icon and choose More ... Pin to taskbar
