Battery alert

Question

For several days now I have been getting this message on my laptop, "AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined and the battery may not charge. The system will adjust performance to match the power available." Actually, another message "Your battery can no longer provide sufficient power to the system and needs replacement," was the first alert.

As I rarely use battery power as the single power option (prefer AC plug-in) should I still replace the current battery? My Dell Inspiron 13-7378 laptop appears to be running normally but should I stop using it until the battery is replaced?
