I was using gmail and encountered this error.  Anyone knows how I can change local launch permission for DCOM? Or I have to start a service when system starts.  I found similar issues when I am using google products.   Thanks for the help in advance.  I am using a Dell laptop.

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

Windows.SecurityCenter.WscBrokerManager

 and APPID

Unavailable

to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

    Hi Summit,

I found a recommendation from https://windowsreport.com . I will try it and see whether the problem will goes away.

    Thanks!

    Louis

    Solution 1: Deleting Registry Keys

It is recommended that you should save a copy of your registry values before trying this making any changes. The solution will only work if you are logged in as administrator or have enabled administrative.

Navigate to your search box and type ‘regedit’.

A list of search results will be displayed and you can click on regedit to open it.

Move your mouse towards **‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Ole’**section and delete the following keys:                            DefaultAccessPermission, DefaultLaunch, PermissionMachineAccessRestriction,                                                                                                             MachineLaunchRestriction

Finally, you can save the changes by restarting your PC.

The default permissions will be written for the system if you delete the above mentioned four keys from your registry. Hence those apps that require access to the DCOM Server will eventually get access as a result.

    Hi,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

DCOM errors are present on every machine. MS recommends to ignore those.

You say you had this error while using Gmail. Did the browser crash?

Just a close out of the issue.  The issue seems to go away after I granted the permission to myself (Administrator) and deleted all the keys as above.

    Hi Summit,

First, thanks for helping.  The browser was frozen.  And I could not get to task manager using ctrl-alt-del.  I had to power cycle the computer.  It happens multiple times a day if I use gmail or google doc.

    Thanks!

    Louis
