Windows 10 Pro "type?"

Hey everybody,

Trying to figure out what "type" means in regards to Windows 10 Pro. e.g., type A1 ,A2, B1, B2, C2, D2, etc.

I'm looking to purchase a product key online to activate and don't wanna get dumped. I just purchased a new custom built PC, and the Windows 10 must not be valid. So I need to buy a product key the full version, not an upgrade version.

The only price break available for retail Windows 10 below those prices I already linked your from MS, is for OEM version which locks to the first motherboard installed upon and cannot be moved. But do not buy it from any other than major retailers who back all sales, like New Egg, Amazon, or Best Buy.

If you pay discount you will be throwing away your money. It will likely be a Volume License key meant only for business which will expire when it tries to connect to the business' on-site Activation servers which isnt' there.

Oh yeah, sorry I vented , I'm not happy. Just paid $700 and have been repairing it since I bought it. So I saw this afternoon on Google shopping, several had Windows 10 Pro prodkey $X. Type: drop down A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D2, F2. (never seen it before)

Figured probably a scam. I just need an inexpensive prod key maybe? Since I'm obviously going to have to keep this PC.

Are you sure you need Pro version because it is the exact same OS with just a few extra expensive features unlocked. See this chart to compare:

Here's a link to Home just in case:

Yeah I know what you mean I've never seen that before in my life. I was browsing Google shopping for Windows 10 Pro cuz I just don't trust this guy that I bought this computer from. When I booted PC for the first time Thursday, Windows Defender caught this thing called  KSpike o or something like that. Called it some kind of hacking tool that scared the cr@p out of me, so double scanned my computer for viruses, it deleted or quarantined it. Ever since my Office 365 from college has errors,  and lost activation. The seller said I'd have to buy a product key to activate Windows 10.

Hi ZMan. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

I'm not aware of those "types" of Windows 10 Pro versions. Can you show me a link to an example which quotes one of these "types?"

But if you buy a discounted key it is likely bogus, since there are no discounts in Windows 10 retail licenses.

Buy only from a major retailer who back all sales, including only Amazon mainline, or Microsoft to be surest. You can buy from Microsoft here:

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US...

Then following the gold standard Clean Install in this link which compiles the best possible Install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given, has zero reported problems, and is better than any amount of money could buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

What makes you think the Product Key you have isn't valid? What is the Activation Status and Edition showing at the top of the page at Settings > Update & Security > Activation?

Run the Activation Troubleshooter in the same location and report back its findings

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to choose if I solved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
