Disk Usage 100 Percent

Anonymous
2019-12-13T18:10:30+00:00

Computer Specs:

CPU: i7-8700k

16GB RAM

Storage: HP EX920 m.2 SSD

Build is a year old

So for the past 3 months I've been having 100 percent disk usage when opening programs, and on startup it will remain 100 percent for quite some time.

I have a build completely identical to this one and its disk usage never jumps above 10 percent. (ever)

I've tried everything including the countless fixes (disabling superfetch etc) and even wiping the drive and reinstalling windows (multiple times).

I guess my question is; if I've reinstalled windows, wiped my drive multiple times and the problem still persists, should I assume that the drive has gone bad?

(I haven't done anything that would warrant a virus).

Thank you for your input

    Hi TRYONE,
Before doing the hassle of reformatting.

You can run chkdsk on command to scan for errors on your drive.

You can also try to run your system in safe mode to see if some background application/s is causing your problems.

you can check this complete and detailed Microsoft guide on how to do it.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/...

Or you can try to check your hard drive health first by using a 3rd party scanning tool called HD Tune pro and check if you have bad sectors on your hard drive and also to check its health.

You can download the free trial here.
