Does SCCM client require update orchestrator service to be running for software updates

Hi,

I need a clarification on below

1. what is the difference between update orchestrator service and windows update service.
2. To do the patching from SCCM server does both the services are required to be running on SCCM clients. or can we disable update orchestrator service keeping windows update service running.

Why would you not keep this service running?

To my knowledge though, yes, it is required as ConfigMgr is simply the delivery mechanism for update content. Windows installs updates the exact same way no matter what delivery mechanism is used.
