Password is incorrect. Try again.

After using a pin and facial recognition to login to my windows 10 pc for over a year now it's asking for a password. I had booted the machine into safe mode to fix another issue. It's in safe mode but I can't get out of it without the password. So when I got the password is incorrect, I went online on my laptop and changed the password for the account, it works just fine online, but I still can't login on my pc. No matter what I try, it continues to ask for my password and I still tells me it's incorrect. What else can I do? Why won't it accept the changed password?

    Hi,

Sorry to hear that, follow the path of step 2 again, until you reach the option >> Command Prompt >> Type: net user administrator /active: yes

Restart your system, log in to the built-in administrator account (No password required), open the command prompt as an administrator, now >> Run this command (replacing UserName with your original username and NewPassword with a new password)

Restart and you should be able to log in to your original account with the new password

If this step does not work, follow the steps in the advanced recovery menu again and check if you can return to a recent restore point.

    Regards

    Hi JDesk,

My name is Marc, thanks for participating in the Microsoft Community, I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

The password you request is the one that was initially set up by the computer if my memory does not fail me, in the same way, try the following to verify if it helps you to exit the safe mode:

1.- These are indications (Step 2) that are offered from the website managed by a Windows MVP.

    https://www.thewindowsclub.com/pc-stuck-cannot-...

2.- Hold down the Shift key while restarting the computer, this process will take you to the Advanced Recovery Menu >> Troubleshooting >> Advanced Options >> Command Prompt >> In the command, type: bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot + Enter, exit the options, and restart the computer, that should allow you to start normally.

Let me know if you have something else that I can help you with, I'd be happy to help.

    Regards,

    Marc M.

    Have a nice day
