Active programs/windows are deactivated and full-screen games are minimised to desktop

Hello,

as stated simply in the subject, active programs are deactivated and full-screen games are minimised to desktop, once per boot-up. I've read related issues and I must add that this is not random, it happens once after certain amount of time while running a game, either windowed or full-screen. I must recognise that it might be two different problems; the one deactivating windows and the one minimising full-screen games but both happen after a fixed period of time so my guess is that it isn't. Also, it's not a malware-related issue, since I've had my antivirus run full searches. I've read that it could be a problem with Full Screen Optimisation feature of Windows 10 but I really don't understand how it could be.

AMD Ryzen 7 3750H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx (8 CPUs), ~2.3GHz

NVIDIA GeForce 1660 Ti

    Hi,

thank you for your answer, though I must disagree: games aren't crashing. As I said, full-screen games MINIMISE to desktop, they don't CTD. I can resume playing after I click on their icon in the taskbar, sometimes as long as three hours after. Full-screen games minimise and windows are deactivated (games, file explorer, sometimes even web browsers). This happens after 2 minutes I run either of these, once per boot-up. Sometimes it can go unnoticed because of regular clicking the active window or program but is noticeable, annoyingly so, when I believe I'm writing and then I realise I'm not. My guess is that some other Windows' program is interfering. Sometimes it occured right before a McAfee notification popped up. But I uninstalled it and it keeps happening.

I hope this explains the problem better

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand your concern as the programs either minimize or close all of a sudden, basically they are crashing and this happens while playing games for certain amount of time.

In this scenario we would suggest you to refer this article: Update drivers in Windows 10 and update the drivers for the display/graphics card.

Also put the PC in Clean Boot and see if you still get the app crashing issue. Refer the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows. A ‘clean boot’ starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. If the settings app is working fine in Clean Boot then please refer the section How to determine what is causing the problem after you do a clean bootto determine the root cause of the issue.

Note:After you finish troubleshooting, follow the sectionReset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshootingto reset the computer to start normally.

Please get back with the result of the suggestion provided above for further investigation.
