That doesn't seem to be particularly slow to me. It''s around what II got when I used ADSL. ADSL is not a very fast way to get internet service. Cable is almost always much better, if it's available where you are.

    Hi GavinMathos,

I am an independent advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I would be happy to help you out with this.

Are you able to connect your computer using a wired Ethernet network cable? I noticed that you are connected wirelessly and there are multiple factors that can affect wireless signal including distance from the wireless router and obstructions between it and your computer.

If possible I would like to see what speeds you would get over the wired connection.

Can you also share what package you have purchased from your internet service provider? Generally there are several speed options available, so this is one way you could increase your speeds.

You can also use a different speed test provider at www.speedtest.net and choose a server near you. Different servers will show different speeds depending on the different locations.

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

Sometimes there are background programs running that may use your network connection heavily, resulting in a slower speed test. You can check network usage of applications in Task Manager, which you can open by right clicking on your taskbar and choosing "Task Manager".

I hope this has helped you. Please reply and let us know if you have further questions!

    Regards,

    -Ashton

Hi I am using a BSNL ADSL Broadband Internet Connection. According to My Plan I get Internet Speed @ 8 Mbps (Unlimited). But if you see the Speed Test i did above it shows Download Internet Speed @ 6.7 Mbps, Upload Internet Speed @ 810 Kbps, which according to me i fell is vey less.

Atleast i should get 7.5 Mbps to 8 Mbps Internet Speed. I want some tips to increase My Home ADSL Broadband Internet Speed. Also do let me know what's the Maximum Internet Speed you get in ADSL Connection.

    Hi Gavin,

Thank you for providing that information about your internet plan.

It is very common to have a lesser number than the advertised speed, because 8 Mbps is the theoretical maximum speed. For example, I have a 300Mbps download / 15 Mbps upload plan with my internet service provider, but fast.com only shows 240Mbps download and 13Mbps upload.

For ADSL connections, sometimes there are filters that the company will provide to put on your phone line ends, to provide a stronger signal for the ADSL.

Especially using copper telephone lines on ADSL connections, depending on the distance of your site from the main telephone carrier exchange location, it may mean the signal strength degrades, and possible other interference.

Theoretical maximum speed for ADSL is 24Mbps, you may want to consider other options such as LTE, coaxial cable, or fiber optic connections, if available in your area. This will likely come at an increased cost.
