Hello.

i can't use any VPN program's because there is something forcing the automatically detect settings to be OFF.

troubleshoot gave me this message : (windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings).

so basically i have to make this option (automatically detect settings) ON so i can use the VPN program's but every time i change it its go back to OFF automatically... what i need is to make it on from registry or i dont know from where...

what i tried is :

1-sfc /scannow.

2-restore advanced settings. (in internet options)

3-network rest (from windows settings > network & internet > status)

4-rebooting PC + router.

5-updating driver's and windows update to last version.

6- uninstall and install network driver's (pptp - ipv6 - ip)

7- used all reset internet and network commands. (such as [netsh winsock reset][netsh int ip reset][ipconfig /release][etc..])

8-uninstall all anti-virus program's didnt help because i dont have one.

9-checked the vpn program if its blocked by firewall.

10-checked for malware's but there is no malware's because i didnt download like literally anything from google sins the VPN program's was working fine for me.

11-i uninstalled almost all program's i have.

12- disabled and enabled the wi-fi adapter.

13- DNS address and ip address are on auto in (TCP/ipv4 + ipv6).

14- ProxySettingPerUser not in my registry and i tried to create it and set the value to 1 but still not working so i deleted it.

now guys after i tried all above nothing worked for me because i guess there something blocking the option from registry or something... please help me.

    Hi,

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    We understand your concern as you are unable to use any VPN programs, as it asks for automatically detect settings to ON and it auto toggles to OFF. We appreciate your effort in troubleshooting and providing us the detailed information about the issue.

    In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these registry changes and check.

    Note: Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Follow the steps to take backup of registry.

    Method 1: Check the permissions on Internet Settings in registry

    1. Press Windows + R key to launch Run command.

    2. Type ‘regedit’ and hit enter.

    3. Navigate to this location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

    4. Right Click on Internet Settings and select Permissions.

    5. Ensure that your user profile has full control.

    Method 2: Change the DWORD value in registry

    1. Press Windows + R key to launch Run command.

    2. Type ‘regedit’ and hit enter.

    3. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

    4. Change the value from 0 to 1 for the below registry for these entries.

    “AutoDetect” =dword:0x00000001

    "MigrateProxy"=dword:0x00000001

    "ProxyEnable"=dword:0x00000001

    "ProxyHttp1.1"=dword:0x00000000

    "ProxyServer"=http://server:port

    5. Restart the PC and check.

    Method 3: Run the troubleshooter.

    1. Press Windows + I key to launch Windows Settings.

    2. Select Updates and Security and click on Troubleshooter.

    3. Look for Network troubleshooter and select it.

    4. Click on Run the Troubleshooter and follow the onscreen steps.

    Hi MOONERALSHABE,

    Thank you for your response.

    Yes, if you are unable to see the **"**AutoDetect" and "proxyserver" registry key. Then create it and change the value from 0 to 1.

    **Note:**Important this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

    Follow the steps to take backup of registry.

    Let us know how it goes.
