I've just had this note in my Notifications:

This is the first time I've had this alert. I've checked my Windows C in "This PC" and it show that I have 17.4 GB free of 117 GB.  I'd like to ask for advice on the following, please:

  1. Am I every likely to need the previous version of Windows and how can I check how much space is taken by it?
  2. I used to use Macrium Reflect until a year or two ago but it was too complicated and I had many problems with it so I uninstalled it. Are there similar alternative Apps available?
  3. I've checked other areas on my laptop & see these:

and this one:

Need I look anywhere else please?

    Hi again Taffy

Most likely on your C drive you have a Windows.Old folder and that is what is being referred to as 'Previous version of Window'

You do not need that folder, and Windows 10 should have automatically deleted that folder 10 days after it was created . . .

Open File Explorer, then check you C drive for that Windows.Old folder, if you find that navigate inside that folder into the contained users folder

Check in there to make sure none of your personal files are contained there, if there is personal files in there, move those out to their respective folders (Documents, Pictures . . etc)

    . . .

Once you are sure there are no personal files in there:

    Open File Explorer

    Click on your hard drive

On the Manage Tab, click Cleanup

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

On the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything (except Downloads folder) in the list and choose Delete

Hi again and many thanks for your very clear / easy-to-follow instructions, Dave. They did the trick - I previously had 17.4 GB free of 117 GB and now I have 19.1 GB free. Brilliant/much appreciated.

I was going to give you an extra star for your mate Mikel but it won't let me! Regards
