Recycle Bin and Update issues

First, when I delete something it is not going into the recycle bin but being completely deleted. Sometimes I have a choice as to whether to delete it or send it to the bin and then there is no problem, other times these is no choice. This has only started happening recently as before, deleted files went to the bin anyway.

Secondly, I have hardly any programmes on my PC but the hard drive is almost full, only a few GB left. I am putting this down to the size of the Windows Updates and the immense amount of Microsoft stuff on it that you can't get rid of. Everything of my own is stored on external drives and everything has been cleaned, i.e. defrag, temp files, disk cleanup etc etc, nothing left to clean now.

What can I do now as my PC will probably not take any more updates through no fault of my own?

    Hi Ziggy

If you are deleting files form your internal hard drive, those files should go to the Recycle Bin, files on a USB drive will not, because USB flash drive have no recycle bin folder on the drive . . .

Right click the Recycle bin on your Desktop, choose Properties, is the options on the resulting dialog set correctly, with regards to a confirmation box and not deleting files directly?

With regards to space on your hard drive:

Windows Explorer is useless when it comes to working out where your hard drive space is being used . . .

Click the link below to download a small free utility called Treesize. Using that tool, you will instantly see where this space is being used

Once you have worked out where this space is being used, please provide a screenshot of what you find for further analysis of any possible underlying issue . . .
