Hi mariellagussoni,

I'm Paul, a fellow customer like you & an Independent Advisor. That looks like a Realtek Wifi driver. Kindly allow me to ask to start troubleshooting your issue.

• Is that a built-in Wifi or external adapter?

• What's your PC brand & model?

• What has been changed in the system before the issue first started?

Looking forward to your reply. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Paul A.

    Hello Paul,

Thank you for sharing your expertise to assist with frustrating technical issues. My issue is similar to "mariellagussoni".  My problem started after a windows update. I attempted a system restore. It was just a blue screen when I powered up. The screen stated: "Please use the Failure ID code above when contacting HP Support.  https://support.hp.com/us-en/eas/failureid

For more information and updates, please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/PCDiags. "

Then it told me to hold on while it fixed itself but it just kept telling me to wait. Finally, I learned how to start up by turning the power button off and on 3 times and followed instructions to get into windows. I attempted to do a system restore. That issue is no longer a problem but since then every time I start up the laptop, my wifi option is set to manual, somehow. I attempt to turn it on but it won't. I attempt the network check and troubleshooting options but it just tells me to turn on my Wifi button. Grrrrrrrrrr...I try but it won't come on. In device manager I found

    Manufacturer: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

    Description: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter #2

    Driver version: 2024.0.10.209

    Physical address (MAC): D8-9C-67-94-E3-D5

I have no idea why or when it started being adapter #2. I did the "update driver" I did the uninstall and then "scan for hardware changes" to reinstall. I had wifi on the reboot but the next day it would not come on again. I ended up doing a 'network reset' and then I have wifi on the first reboot. Then gone again. I must do it each time I turn on the computer to temporarily access the wifi capability.

    In device manager it states:

    Device PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_84CE103C&REV_15\4&222f5f33&0&00A0 requires further installation.

Any chance you know what I can do to fix this problem? It is a built-in Wifi. HP Laptop 17-by0011ds; Product# is 5ED35UAR#ABA

Another thing that may be to blame-I have no clue- but the hinge broke just before all this started happening. The right one.

Thank you in advance for any assistance, guidance, or words of wisdom you may be able to offer.
