Error 0xc0150004

I tried to open an app and I kept getting error 0xc0150004, saying the application was unable to start correctly. I tried reinstalling it several times, looked at videos and articles to try command prompts and other fixes and it didn't work.

Then, I tried to reset my laptop completely since I didn't have any important files.

I tried every kind of reset but I got "Couldn't reset computer. No changes were made" every time.

I only have one app that has this error but I can't even reset, so I don't know what to do.

Joshua, you have to be able to focus enough to follow clearly written steps or else ask back how to do each one, not just skip over them. If you cannot do this then you'll need to take it to a shop which will charge a minimum $150 and not do half as good of a reinstall as I can help you do if you'll follow the steps!

So did you create the bootable media? You can't install Windows without it.

If so and it's plugged in then choose F9 Boot Device Options, choose the UEFI version of the flash stick or DVD. If there is no UEFI flash stick or DVD listed then the media was not correctly created just as I wrote to do it. Go back and do it again.

After media loads, follow the steps I gave to choose Repair Your Computer on second screen, then Troubleshoot Options to Reset.

If Reset fails again, then boot the media again and choose Install Now and follow exactly the steps in this tutorial

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki....

This is the very best install of Windows you can have. It is also one of life's great learning experiences that will permanently make you the master of your PC because you will learn everything that works best and how to keep it that way.

Hi Joshua. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator. If you will work with me I will be here to help until the issue is resolved.

You may need to create bootable media to access Repair Mode to do a Reset, or if it fails again the gold standard Clean install. The bootable media has it's own drivers, repair and installation files which often work when Windows or the other Repair Mode doesn't.

To create Windows 10 Installation Media on another PC install Media Creation Tool and follow the directions here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/m.... Uncheck the box for Recommended Settings to choose the exact version and bit rate for the target PC only.

Insert media, boot it by powering up PC while pressing the BIOS Boot Menu Key: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/hardware-tutor...

If the media won't boot you may need to enter BIOS/UEFI Setup (pressing key given in chart in link above) to turn off Fast Boot or Fast Startup first.

Choose the boot device as a UEFI device if offered, on second screen choose Repair Your Computer, then Troubleshoot Options to try a Reset.

If that fails choose Install Now, then Custom Install, then at the drive selection screen delete all partitions down to Unallocated Space to get it cleanest, click Next to let it create needed partitions and start install - this makes it foolproof.

Everything needed to get the best possible Clean Install is here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki.... It is a better install than any amount of money can buy and a great learning experience that will make you the master of your PC because you will learn what works best and how to apply it with your own hands.

If you have files that aren't backed up you can use the same bootable media to try to rescue your files using these methods: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you will wait to choose if I solved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I must've misunderstood some of the directions.

Is there a way to force a factory reset this laptop?

I've tried all (I think) reset options and all of them said an error occurred and no changes were made

Are you trying to boot bootable media you created? If so it is not showing up in the Boot menu. Try creating it again using only the Media Creation Tool following the steps in the middle of the Download page here:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/software-downlo...

If you're not trying to create bootable media then please explain what you're trying to do in the BIOS boot menu?

Thank you so much for the help but I’m not sure what to do in this screen. I pressed BIOS setup and checked UEFI as mentioned above, but it just logged me back in and didn’t change anything
