Hi All,

I have implemented changes to restrict particular files types from being uploaded to OneDrive for Business using the Admin Center. Such as MP3, MP4 EXE ETC

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to then create an exception rule to allow certain users or groups to bypass this tenant level restriction?

We have a Comms team that deals with alot of digital files and we are required to grant them access to it.

Is it possible using the Admin Center or powershell?
Or does this need to be done elsewhere, like SP or Compliance Centre?

Your help is appreciated.

Regards,

Angelo

Hi Angelo, thank you for posting in the Q&A forum.

If you set the restriction via OneDrive admin center > Sync > Block syncing of specific file types (or using PowerShell) then No, this setting will apply to everyone in this tenant with no exclusivity.

If you want to apply this restriction on specific users only, you can use OneDrive Group Policy objects (GPOs) to exclude specific kinds of files from being uploaded.
This setting gives you more flexibility than the Block syncing of specific file types setting in the admin center, referring to the document.
