arch linux display server on hyper-v doesn't work

i'm trying to install manjaro onto a linux vm, but it gets stuck at reached target graphical interface and then just hangs. i had a similar experience with theshellos (both are based on arch and using sddm) where it told me that i had no displays that the x11 server could use. is there a way to set up a display server in the vm (or using a remote x server tool such as xming)?

if it helps, i downloaded the kde version of manjaro
