Downloaded community edition vs_community__1748824332.1615671988 it says it has downloaded as per pic![82346-vs-installer.png][1] [1]: /api/attachments/82346-vs-installer.png?platform=QnA And then nothing: programme will not open or run, just repeats the same process when I try install it again. Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you for sharing me the link.
I have checked the log file and there isn’t any other error, but I noticed that the log recorded this “Another instance is running. Can not get singleton lock”. It seems multiple instances are running.
Suggestion:
1). Please close every instances of Visual Studio and delete this installer folder under this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer, after that reboot your machine and try to re-download VS and reinstall VS.(Download VS)

Hi @PC , thanks for your feedback. I may need to confirm something with you:
1). How long did you wait for after VS Installer displayed “Almost done… Getting everything ready”?
2). Do you use the latest version of Windows?
3). Was there any Windows Update error reported in Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Update > View update history.
4). Did you set some environment variables before?
1) I waited hours.
2) OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.18362 Build 18362
3) My update history won't open , so I think this could be the problem.
4) I did not change anything on my laptop settings specifically, if that is what you mean by "environment variables."

Please follow this document: Windows Update Troubleshooter for Windows 10 to run the troubleshooter, after that restart your computer and see if it is possible to open the “View update history”. BTW, if it is possible, please try to update Windows 10 to the latest version, as newer version of Windows has fixed some potential issues which may affect the installation of Visual Studio.

This should be a Windows related issue, Perhaps you can ask here: Windows Community for better help.
… so I think this could be the problem.
I agree with you, I think the installation of Visual Studio may be prevented by some issues generated from Windows, or the environment. Not sure if there are some files corrupted(Windows), currently, I suggest you try to solve the Windows issues first and then try to reinstall VS.
