Hello,

How can I connect different Excel files, stored into Teams, with Power BI?

What I did was:
1.- Access to my Teams group

  1. Go to files
  2. Click on "Open in SharePoint"
  3. Once in the SharePoint, open the Excel file on Excel app
  4. On Excel file, click on "Info" & copy the path
  5. Go to Power BI > Get Data > From Web > Basic
  6. Paste the link from Excel file
  7. Remove the "?web=1" from the link
  8. Click on "OK"

But I got the following message:

Unable to connect
We encountered an error while trying to connect.
Details: "Access to the resource is forbidden."

This does NOT happen when I connect files stored in a SharePoint (without Teams involved).

Thanks in advance for your kindly support!

    @Dinorah Mayo ,

The root cause for this problem is that Microsoft Teams is not a default connector from Power BI desktop. As you know, the workaround is to use SharePoint. SharePoint connectors are available in Power BI desktop.

Many people discuss about this question in Power BI community. You could know more information from this link.

Hi, this worked for me. All I had to do was use Organizational account to authenticate not the Basic. It connected smoothly without any error.

Pulling in excel files stored in Teams/SharePoint is done using Get Data > Online Services > SharePoint Folder. You then navigate through in the power query editor to the relevant Excel file and then the relevant worksheet or defined table.
