SQL 2019 Kubernetes Replica vs Always On Group

I am trying to understand the difference between having a 2019 Kubernetes with multiple replicas/nodes/pod that are active compared to a 2019 kubernetes always on cluster.
Anyone able to help explain, i have tried searching for it but i feel like with the replicas and load balancing option there is no reason to use always on.
Thank you in advance!

Hi anonymous user

The openspec-* tags are dedicated to supporting issues related to open specifications. You can find open specifications here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/

Since your question does not pertain to one of these specifications, I've removed the openspecs-sqlserver tag.

You may be able to find additional resources here:
SQL AlwaysOn: Choosing between the right replication model - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki (microsoft.com)
Deploy a SQL Server container with Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS) - SQL Server | Microsoft Docs

If I've misunderstood your question and you believe this is related to the Open Specifications documents, please clarify, providing the document name and section with which you have the question or issue.
