How can we export the vm backup from azure to on-prem server.

Is there any power shell script through which we can do that?

Hi @AmitKumar-4427 ,

as far as I know there is no option to export a VM backup from an Azure Recovery Services Vault.
Neither in Azure portal nor via PowerShell,

What use-case is behind your request/question?

Hi Andreas,

Thanks for your answer. My manger wants to export the vm backup to local storage.
So that if they want to use that backup to create the replica of that vm to on-prem server any time.
He also wants to save the cost on this.
Is there any free third party tool or power-shell script through which we can perform this task.

We can export the disk and download the vhd file but he wants to some other way to get this done.

Hi @AmitKumar-4427 ,

I am not aware of a 3rd party tool to get this done.

The export and download of the disk is an option.
This is similar to the official statement:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-backup-faq#how-can-i-move-data-from-the-recovery-services-vault-to-on-premises

Data must be restored to a storage account

This means restore the VM and export the disk. At least that's my understanding.

To optimize costs maybe this helpos:
