What keystroke to "break out" of mstsc remote window?

I have some VMs in Hyper-V. Mostly I use vmconnect.exe to connect to them. Using that method of connection, I can press "Ctrl+Alt+Left" to break out of the MSTSC window, and in my workflow, I then press Ctrl+Win+Left to go to the first of two Windows 10 "Virtual Desktops". In this manner, it is simple to switch back and forth from my host to the VM guest.

If I instead use mstsc.exe to connect to the VM, this Ctrl_Alt+Left key combination is no longer available. Is there any key combination that can be user with MSTSC.exe that will allow me to break out of the VM connection? At this point, the only thing that works is to minimise the mstsc.exe app, and then I can shift to the other desktop, which is not efficient.

Thank you
David

Thanks Carl

I had a look at that link. It does contradict with the information I found earlier. The first answer on this page indicates that Ctrl+Alt+Left should tab out of the VM session, which is exactly what I want, and is exactly what VMConnect.exe does. Is there any way to make it so that Ctrl+Alt+Left is consistent across these two apps?

Thank you
David

Hi David,
Yes as you said, Ctrl+Alt+Left Arrow: “Tab” out of the Remote Desktop controls to a control in the host program.
So I consider that what we could do is try to update the version.
Or try to use the AutoHotkey script.
This issue is more like a Microsoft MSTSC know-issue.
Hope this helps and please help to accept as Answer if the response is useful.
Best Regards,
Carl
