Only fields from the current dataset can be added

I'm getting the error. "Only fields from the current dataset can be added". I'm trying to add BILL_ID and it DOES exist in the current dataset assigned to the table. Please help.

    problem seemed to be caused by our source control. I checked out the rdl, closed the report, reopened it and now I was able to add the field.
