Good afternoon Team.

I hope you are well.

I have a query, in my client we are deploying Windows 10 version upgrade, in this case build 1909 to 20H2 via "Feature update to Windows 10".

When reviewing the deployment status I have many computers with the error "0X80240020 Operation did not complete because there is no logged-on interactive user".

The deployment is configured as required to install without user intervention.

Testing:

  • I applied this possible solution by inserting a value in the following registry: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade] but I was unsuccessful as the error persists. I got this solution from https://lnkd.in/eQSqA72

Has it happened to you? What else can I apply to solve this problem?

Thank you.

    Hi @Rafael Aguilar ,

We could try to upgrade Win10 build 1909 to 20H2 manually on the problematic client side, if it is failed, there might be something wrong with client. If not, we could check some logs to troubleshoot it.

Updates Deployment Agent now starts a job to download the software update files from the distribution point. This can be seen in UpdatesDeployment.log, please check if the content is downloaded on the side of client:

Then Updates Deployment Agent raises a state message to update the current enforcement state and then starts the installation of the update. We see the following in UpdatesDeployment.log:

Besides, here is the similar post we could refer to:

    Hi Amandayou-MSFT.

The devices are low on disk space and have McAfee installed. Therefore, the AV is blocking updates.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Best regards.
