Whitelisting IP Address for Access to Azure SQL DB - What happens if the IP Address changes?

Hi All

I have a requirement for a client to plug into an Azure SQL DB database from PowerBI.
However we get the error that the IP Address needs to be whitelisted in Azure Portal.

That seems straightforward however what happens if the client IP address changes? I assume we whitelist the public IP address. I thought this refreshes every couple of weeks? I read something online about whitelisting IP ranges rather than single IP's, however does this ensure that when the clients public IP changes, the new IP will automatically be whitelisted in azure?

Thanks

Hi @Adnan , Azure SQL Firewall has some information on this. From my understanding, the best thing to do is to whitelist IP ranges. If the public IP changes it would still fall into the IP range. I'm going to check with my networking colleague in the meantime and will report back when I get confirmation!

    Best,
    James
