The Batch Pool Id is currently limited to 64 characters, this is quite a limitation. Any plans to support longer pool id's, maybe up to 256 characters ?

Apologies on the delay.
The product team shared that they do not have any plans to increase the Pool Id length in the current semester.
However, they would like you to share the details on your scenario which results in the request of 256 character length for Pool ID.
Based on your scenario requirement, they may consider it in their planning for upcoming semesters.

In our scenario, batch pools are created dynamically based on incoming workload. The Batch Pool Id is used to encode information such as environment, software version installed, etc..., in order to determine if a existing pool exists for a given workload or if a new pool needs to be created. It also adds visibility when using tools like Azure Portal/Batch Explorer and some internal tools. We also store this info as metadata on the pool, but the visibility aspect, i.e being able to immediately identify the pools and their characteristics is essential.

You can set the displayName of a pool which accepts up to 1024 unicode characters. Please see the Add Pool docs.

Thanks a lot for the tip, it could indeed be a good workaround.
We now have now changed our implementation to use the pool displayName to encode our key information instead of the poolId.
Unfortunately BatchExplorer ( which is our main trouble shooting tool) does not display the DisplayName when listing the pools and only displays it on the Configuration Pane. This is very cumbersome. The search functionality cannot be used anymore.
Any known workaround or config option to resolve this issue ?

As i mentioned in my earlier posts, the Batch Explorer is one of our main trouble shooting tool.
The fact the Batch Explorer is not using the DisplayName to list the pools is a major issue.
Is there a possible work around or are we now just doomed to click on hundert of poolId to find the correct one ?
