Hi,

I'm using Power query of Excel 2016. I'm trying to import data from another Excel file.
After loading a few rows, I get the error :

"Initialization of the data source failed.
Check the database server or contact your database administrator. Make sure the external database is available, and then try the operation again. If you see this message again, create a new data source to connect to the database. "

However, I'm able to see all the data in Power Query but the error appear when loading it in the worksheet.

Can you help me please to resolve the issue ?

    Hi @AnKLN

What's the version of your Office?
Firstly, please update it to the latest version to have a check.

What's the source of the Excel file? Will other PC or people import data from this Excel file successfully?
Does this issue occur when importing data from other Excel files? You could create a new Excel file to test.

Do you have other version of Office installed on this PC before? Please make sure to uninstall it completely.

If the above don't work, try repairing Office to check this issue.

Besides, are there any sorting, filtering, etc. in your data source? If yes, please remove these to have a try.
If there is table in the Excel file, you could right-click table, select Table>Convert to Range, then re-insert a table, re-import data from this Excel file.

What's more, please temporarily exit third-party software if there is on the PC when importing to see if it helps.

Any updates, please let me know.

    Hi @Erin Ding-MSFT

    Thank's for your answer.

Yes, i'm trying to import data as in the screenshot.

This issue occur in my PC. I tried to import data with another PC and it works.

I really don't have an idea about the source of Excel file. But I have created a new Excel file and It doesn't work.

Now, I will try to uninstall Office completely and reinstall it.

I'll let you know if it will work.
