I have an external drive with bitlocker installed. I know the password and I have the encryption key. When I connect the drive to my computer that is running Windows 10 Pro, I am queried to enter my password for the external drive. However, after entering my password, the drive spins but it never unlocks...the drive just keeps running (and it affects various computer functions). When it apparently times out and I can click on the drive once more in Windows Explorer, its starts the effort over to access the drive and takes another 10-15 minutes until it times out again.

Based on your description, I want to confirm that have you made any changes before the problem occurred?
We could try to repair BitLocker first and decrypt again in clean boot to check the result.

Thank you for your help. I've made no changes to my external drive since making this post. Regarding using the tool you suggest. It indicates the tool is for Windows 7. Does it also work for Windows 10?

Yes, it also works for Windows 10.
What I want to know is whether there has been a problem when encrypting an external drive, and whether it can be accessed normally before?
Before this problem, I routinely updated the drive. However, in this instance, I deleted all the data on the drive before hand and started replacing the data to the drive. As I was reloading all the data, these challenges began.

I've tried the tool you suggest. However, the tool appears to only work AFTER the drive is unlocked. My challenge is I do not appear to be able to unlock the drive (even though I have the password and key).
Do you have other thoughts on how I might tackle this issue?
This is my second drive where I've installed bitlocker and experienced problems even though I have both the password and key. Guess I'm losing confidence in bitlocker if I lose access to my drives for what I perceive to easily addressable issues.
