Failing to build a reference image using VirtualBox

Im a student and for a project at my school I need to use MDT to roll out windows 10 client PC's with certain applications already installed.
I've followed the guide at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/deploy-windows-mdt/prepare-for-windows-deployment-with-mdt

Once I get to the part where I have to make a reference image, the whole process takes about an hour (on a VirtualBox vm) and than fails.

I've turned on the final summary and the attached image is the error message I get. Could anyone guide me through how to fix these errors?

Thanks a lot

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.

==>Computer is a member of domain, should be in a workgroup when sysprepping.
The reason is because the Sysprep tool runs only if the PC is a member of a workgroup, not a domain. You need to remove your computer from the domain and add it to a workgroup and then it will work.
For more information, please refer to: Sysprep (System Preparation) Overview

    Best regards,
    Simon

I tried it again but don't I need to join the domain in order for MDT to capture the reference image and put it in the /Capture folder of the MDT server? It always asks me to join the domain (manually). Before that it has only a workgroup but maybe I need different 'rules' (customsettings/bootstrap.ini) in order for this to work?

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

1, Please make sure your VirtualBox vm is a workgroup rahter than domain-joined client. And then please follow the official article to create a Windows 10 reference image with your base applications as well as the latest updates:
Create a Windows 10 reference image

2, Could we select to join a workgroup when it asked us to join the domain manually? Also refer to:
