Search in OWA not working.
By this, do you mean no result is returned or the search results are not complete?
Is it affecting all users in your environment?
How about having a try in Outlook and switching between Exchange cached mode and Online mode to see if there would be any difference?
Besides, please make sure the following services are running properly:
- Microsoft Exchange Search
- Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller
It's also suggested to try moving an affected mailbox to another mailbox database and see how it goes.
Update:
Unlike previous versions of Exchange, the search index in Exchange 2019 is now held within the mailbox. For your situation, it's likely that there are some indexing issues with the affected mailboxes.
I tried to search a lot but did't find any official document stating the possible causes for this kind of indexing issues so personally I cannot say that for sure if it's related to the patch you applied recently. Howerver, based on my previous experience and research, in most similar occasions, moving the mailboxes to another database can help solve the search issues. So in case you encounter a similar search issue in your Exchange 2019 environment in the future, you can try it again by moving a mailbox to a new database.
